Why Vaginoplasty

In recent times, vaginoplasty has become a popular group of cosmetic surgeries, often marketed as "vaginal rejuvenation" or "vagina tightening" procedures. The main goal of this procedure is to tighten the vagina, particularly after childbirth. While alternative methods like heating tissues with radio-frequency waves or laser exist, they may be less effective, especially for patients with significant laxity. In such cases, surgical tightening through vaginoplasty may be a more suitable option. The demand for this type of plastic surgery has been increasing among patients in the world.

Vaginoplasty Procedure

Before the surgery, the patient may need to undergo bowel preparation. The surgeon will have a detailed discussion with the patient to understand their needs and expectations before determining the specific changes to be made.

Under general anesthesia, the surgeon will bring together the separated muscles along the vaginal canal. Any excess tissues, such as mucosa skin from the backside of the vagina, will be removed. The surgeon will then close the tissues with strong sutures and stitch the mucosa skin closed. If there is any extra external skin, it will be removed to achieve a more aesthetic result.

Recovery After Vaginoplasty

The patient will typically require one to two weeks off work, during which ample rest is advised. The patient may experience some deep ache in the first few days, which can be managed with painkillers and antibiotics.

For a period of 8 weeks, the patient must avoid intercourse and using tampons. Some patients may need to use dilators based on the extent of tightening performed.

Other Vaginal Rejuvenation Procedures

Labiaplasty: This procedure aims to reduce the size of the labia minora so that they do not extend beyond the labia majora.

Clitoral Hood Reduction: Often performed in conjunction with labiaplasty to improve the overall appearance and balance of the female genitalia.

Labia Majoraplasty: This procedure reduces the size of the outer, hair-bearing labia majora. It is beneficial for individuals experiencing discomfort during activities like cycling due to large and hanging labia majora.

Monsplasty: The purpose of this procedure is to reduce the amount of fatty tissue and/or skin in the mons region, which may cause embarrassment while wearing tight clothing.
